English Antique Glass Hall Lantern

Enter Our Flash site

Blown glass hall lantern converted to electricity but retaining its original single light, ring-turned brass ventilator with drop finial. It features the embossed brass bezel with three phoenix heads that serve as hooks for the chains. The generous glass smoke shade is in an inverted bell shape.

For reference see "Nineteenth Century Lighting, Candle-powered Devices" by H. Parrott Bacot, page 222. The "tree" has been made for electrification. These lanterns were originally intended for a single candle placed in a socket in the ventilator.

English Circa 1810
Diameter: 12" | Drop: 28"
